We hope families have had a great start to the school year, students are making new friends, and everyone is excited about all of the opportunities that Saxe provides. The Saxe PTC supports both Saxe Intermediate School and Saxe Middle School, and you will find news and events for both schools in this monthly newsletter. 

Saxe PTC memberships are now available for purchase on our website. Please join the PTC! This is your only way to receive access to the online directory, and your membership fees help fund student activities and programs throughout the year. Don’t forget to download the Membership Toolkit app for quick access to the online directory on your phone.

Please join us for the Saxe PTC Welcome Back Coffee at Waveny House. This will be a great opportunity to hear from Superintendent Dr. Bryan Luizzi, Saxe Middle School Principal David Gusitsch, and Saxe Intermediate Principal Sarah Granite. You'll also have the opportunity to sign up for the PTC and learn about other ways to get involved. Plus, we will be voting on the budget, which you can review HERE.

We’re kicking off the year with our PTC membership drive, and we’d love for you to join us. The Saxe Parent-Teacher Council (PTC) is a group of dedicated volunteers working with faculty, staff, and students to enhance the Saxe Intermediate and Saxe Middle School experience.

Calling all student artists!

Celebrate Saxe—Saxe’s annual PTC fundraiser—is looking for postcard artwork to be featured in our mailing to every Saxe family this fall!

This Year’s Theme: “Tell Your Story!”

Everyone has a unique story to tell. We’re inviting students to create an original postcard design that celebrates the many unique stories, experiences, talents, and perspectives that make our Saxe community special.

Submission Guidelines

• Artwork must be on white 8.5" x 11" paper

• Artwork must be in landscape orientation

• Include your name and grade on the back

• Drop off your submission at the 5/6 Office or 7/8 Office

• Deadline: Wednesday, September 16th, at the end of the school day

We can’t wait to see your creativity and Saxe spirit shine!

• School is underway, and we are looking for 5th Grade Room Parent volunteers. If you are interested, please complete the application form HERE.
• The 5th Grade Fun Run will take place on Friday, September 18 and we need volunteers. Please click here to sign up.
• The Intermediate School yearbook will be managed by a team of parent volunteers this year. If you are interested in joining the yearbook committee please reach out to Michelle Cardone.

We're thrilled to announce the Saxe Intermediate School Musical this year is Alice in Wonderland JR! 5th and 6th graders are encouraged to participate—on or off stage. It's a wonderful experience to make friends, explore, and try something new. To read more about it, please click HERE for more information.

• September 8-10: Auditions from 4:00-7:30 PM in the Auditorium (for cast only, see website to sign up for a slot)
• September 14: Full company parent/student meeting from 5:30-6:30 PM in the Auditorium

We shared a lovely late summer morning in Hawks Valley courtyard with 5th grade parents last week. Thank you to Jenn Dinatali and Kristiana Tarnuzzer for coordinating this event.

Open to all brand-new coxswains and rowers, and any athlete interested in building fitness and technical skills on the water! 

Connecticut Boat Club (CBC) invites middle school girls to try rowing this fall. CBC is a one-of-a-kind girls rowing team located in Norwalk, where the River Rats have succeeded in the classroom and at all levels of the sport—high school, collegiately, nationally, and internationally. 

Try it for a week before committing to full registration! You do NOT need to have any rowing experience to participate This is a non-competitive, learn-to-row program where new athletes build fitness, learn technique both on and off the water, and make new friends.
