SUBJECT: Saxe Bi-Weekly PTC Newsletter 6/1/2025

June 1, 2025
President's Letter

We've made it to June! The last PTC newsletter of the year is full of thank yous to the many parents who made time in their personal "Maycember" craziness to also support the end of year events at Saxe.  The biggest thank you of course goes to Jess Huetter, outgoing PTC Co-President. Jess has been an incredible leader who acts thoughtfully and decisively in leading the school PTC.  Saxe students a decade from now will still benefit from her incredible work of fundraising, planning, and overseeing completion of the $225,000 Hawks Court project this past summer. The new basketball courts are a multi-use space that is used by the New Canaan community at large.  It was an incredible achievement that was completed efficiently and thoughtfully, just how Jess tackles each meeting, project, and dilemma put in her path. Thank you so much for your leadership!

Emily Cerone

Saxe PTC Co-President

Thank you to Lauren Scherr and Lauren Wexler for planning an incredible week of events for our 8th graders and to the 8th grade committee heads Erin Gaudreau, Paige McInerney, Coutney Flynn, Irene Manos, Regina Symons, Alison Swierz, Amy Vezzetti, Terria Meyer, Kim Barry, and Hollis McIntosh busy with the Bash, the breakfast, the picnic, lawn signs, and the ceremony.  Our 8th graders are so lucky to have an enthusiastic group of parents preparing to celebrate them!

Thank you to Cindy Cash, Susan Entwistle, and Amanda Sihweil for planning the upcoming 6th Grade Fun Day and Laura Vellante, Josie Weiss, and Courtney Schluender for leading 5th Grade Fun Day.

Thank you Jennifer Hart, Bridget Schulman, and Gina Barroso for planning the 4th/5th Welcome To Saxe Event as we prepare to welcome a new group of students to the halls of Saxe.

Thank you to our Band, Choir, and Orchestra chairs Laura Catherwood, Anca Jordon, Chelsea Talercio, Vanessa LaVerne, and Erica Schwedel for their hard work preparing for the spring concerts.

Finally, thank you to 5th Grade Room Parent Coordinator Ingrid Gelston for a year's worth of work to keep 5th grade families informed and engaged with Saxe and PTC events.
