Circle of Care - Make Tracks for Kids with Cancer

 

Join the only statewide walk/run supporting all Connecticut families facing childhood cancer! Make Tracks for Kids with Cancer is a community-wide walk/run taking place at Sherwood Island State Park, Westport CT on Sunday, September 28th at 8 AM - 12 PM. Ticket price is $25-$30. The fun-filled event is held by Circle of Care, a local nonprofit that supports children with cancer and their families. 

Make Tracks has something for everyone, including a walk for all ages and abilities, a timed 5K for runners and joggers, and activities for kids and families. Your participation will help raise critical awareness and funds to support families, showing them that they are not alone.

Please check out TutorConnect, the Girl Scout Silver Award Project of NCHS Freshman Emily Barnes. TutorConnect is a database/website that gives New Canaan students and tutors (paid and volunteer) a place to find each other!

Troop 70 - Website

Troop 70 is over 40 scouts, many of whom attend Saxe. The troop's website is a great resource for learning about the troop and all the activities the scouts are doing. Meetings are held weekly on Thursdays from 7:30pm to 8:45pm. The location has been changing due to Covid restrictions, but any interested families are welcome to visit. Please reach out to Scoutmaster Jose Morales or Troop Committee Chair Michael Reed with any questions or to go see the scouts in action.

 


 

 

What is SLOBs (Service League of Boys)? - Website

 

NCHS's School Service League of Boys (SLOBs) is a philanthropic club for sons and parents to initiate and promote educational and charitable endeavors that foster community responsibility and leadership, as well as strengthen the parent/son relationship.  Members currently serve over 50+ philanthropic organizations with over 70 different events each school year. SLOBs is the largest service club at NCHS with 250+ members and has served our community with over 35,000 volunteer hours. SPED*NET New Canaan - Website

"SPED*NET Special Education Network of New Canaan, Ltd. (SPED*NET New Canaan”) is organized exclusively to educate the public on special education and disability-related issues. We strive to empower parents, professionals, and students to become more effective advocates in their schools and communities, particularly in New Canaan, CT, and it’s neighboring towns. We serve as a resource for disability-related information, and as a parent-to-parent support and advocacy network for families of children with individual education plans (IEP’s) and Section 504 plans."
